EXCLUSIVE: Chicago Med star Jessy Schram has shared her thoughts about another One Chicago crossover.

Much like the fellow Dick Wolf-produced franchise Law & Order, the One Chicago shows frequently cross over with each other. Currently, this corner of NBC’s programming consists of Chicago Med, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Fire. Schram stars in the first show as Dr. Hannah Asher, having been a series regular since season 7 following recurring appearances in season 5 and a guest appearance in the season 6 premiere. Schram has also appeared in episodes of the other One Chicago shows, and she has an idea about what the next crossover could entail for Dr. Asher.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Adam Holmes, Schram expressed interest in having Asher return to Chicago P.D. following her appearing on that show for the first time earlier this year in the episode “Reckoning, Part III.” This time around, the actor would welcome seeing her character more directly involved in a P.D. case in a manner that’s reminiscent of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. As she explained:

She's met quite a few of those characters, but I just keep thinking about how neat it would be to have Hannah exposed to the PD world with what Hannah does as an OB/GYN and ED practitioner, and what they do with solving their cases, [that] could go hand in hand a little bit more SVU-style, I guess you could say. So I think that's less of a character and more of a general show … I think that if there were to be some kind of crossover, I think that would be really neat to see how they could work in tandem with each other.

Schram was joined in “Reckoning, Part III” by fellow Chicago Med series regulars Steven Weber, Luke Mitchell, Sarah Ramos, Darren Barnet, S. Epatha Merkerson, and Oliver Platt, as well as recurring players Lorena Diaz and Brennan Brown. There have been five One Chicago crossovers between Med, P.D., and Fire all together since 2018. It hasn’t been announced yet if there will be another three-show crossover this TV season, but if/when the Med and P.D. worlds collide again, Schram would welcome a page being taken from the SVU book for Asher’s role in the story.

During the interview, Schram also addressed past storylines and relationships for Asher that she’d like Chicago Med to be revisited. In addition to sharing her desire for one of Asher’s friends from Narcotic Anonymous, as well as one of the character’s ex-boyfriends, to pop back into Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, she also teased a multi-episode storyline that will reunite through Chicago Med season 12:

Well, you're talking about origin stories, and I was just thinking about [how] we’ve had so many great guest stars and recurring actors come through it, and so many different stories that have definitely tripped my heart. But Hannah did have a friend from NA [who] had come to the hospital and eventually had gotten pregnant, and then, after delivering, had OD’d, and that was something that I think that that character would be so great to be able to bring back. Or the ex-boyfriend that we saw back when she was still dating Will Halstead, and you're like, ‘What are you doing here, sir?’

But for me, I think what's been really cool is we have this theme of storylines that have been continuing through, and this season we do have a storyline that we'll be able to follow throughout the entire season as opposed to just one episode, and I'm really looking forward to that.

Chicago Med revealed how Sharon Goodwin can stay on board at Gaffney despite an ultimatum, and it's already clear how long the twist will last.

In the Chicago Med season 11 finale, Asher gave birth to her and Dean Archer’s baby girl, whom they named Mabel. In the season 12 premiere, it was shown that while Asher and Archer are living together to raise Mabel, their relationship dynamic remains complicated. Asher also decided to end her maternity leave early to resume her duties at Gaffney, so Mabel is now being looked after during the day at the hospital’s daycare.

Chicago Med airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC’s fall 2026 TV schedule.
