In the last few years, Chace Crawford has further established himself as a star thanks to his role as The Deep in The Boys, the raunchy Prime Video superhero series that came to a close earlier this year after five seasons. Even before his work on The Boys, though, Crawford has had a lengthy career with projects you may have heard of, like The Covenant, co-starring Sebastian Stan. He’s also widely known and loved for playing Nate in Gossip Girl, and for his roles as Marco in What to Expect When You’re Expecting and Joseph in The Haunting of Molly Hart. Now that The Boys is over and Crawford won’t be playing The Deep anytime soon, that doesn’t mean you won’t see him around in new projects.
One of the most exciting projects on the slate for Chace Crawford is a new football drama, The Land, which hails from creator Dan Fogelman. Fogelman has worked on iconic shows like This Is Us, and he’s also the creator of Hulu’s hit sci-fi thriller, Paradise. During a recent interview with Collider at SLC to chat about all of his many projects, future and past, Maggie Lovitt asked if Crawford had anything exciting to share or tease about The Land. “We’ve shot 10 episodes of this Hulu show, a Dan Fogelman show called The Land. They’re doing an NFL show, but it feels very much like Friday Night Lights meets Succession. It’s a drama, in a very different ballpark than The Boys, clearly.”
Crawford continued, highlighting the work of his co-stars on the show, like William H. Macy and Christopher Meloni, and also even revealing when the show wrapped filming and details about who he’s playing: “I’m really excited about it. I’ve seen the first three episodes, and it’s really good. I play the GM of the team. William H. Macy, Chris Meloni, Mandy Moore, a bunch of people are in it, and they’re all fantastic. We wrapped that in April, so I’m really excited about it.”
Your answers point to the iconic universe your values, your instincts, and your particular way of seeing the world were built for. This is where you would find your people — and your purpose.
You believe in the cause — in the idea that freedom is worth fighting for even when the odds are impossible and the empire is vast.
You understand, in the deepest part of yourself, that the journey matters as much as the destination — and that the world's beauty is worth protecting even at great cost.
You believe that love, loyalty, and doing what's right are not naive sentiments — they are the most powerful forces in any world, magical or otherwise.
You see the world clearly — its power structures, its hypocrisies, its brutal arithmetic — and you are not paralysed by that clarity. You use it.
You believe the future is worth building — that curiosity, cooperation, and the expansion of understanding are not just ideals but the most practical path forward for any civilisation.
Speaking to his experience working with Dan Fogelman, which has been widely positive for so many other stars like Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden, Crawford shared a similar experience: “He’s the best, and I heard from my agents and friends who worked with him that I was going to love him, so it was not a surprise that I did. He’s got a vision.” Crawford continued, both revealing his favorite of Fogelman’s many iconic TV projects and teasing how his interest as a football fan who grew up in Texas blends seamlessly with Fogelman’s ambiguous writing, which often makes you question the character’s motives while also falling in love with them:
“I’ve always been a fan of his, especially with This Is Us. He’s just cool. He loves sports, and I grew up loving football and being from Texas and being a Cowboys fan. His writing is so interesting… like it’s a football show, but it takes you in so many different directions, so you can never fully predict where it’s going. It’s unpredictable, and it’s got a lot of heart to it and characters that like to play in the grey area like he does. It really makes you think and fall in love with these people. He’s just such a good writer, so I was just trying to make him happy and do the show justice.”
