Spider-Man: Brand New Day will soon see the end of its era as the most recent Spider-Man hit project for Marvel Studios, as another version of the beloved wall-crawler will return in just three months. Out of all the Spider-Man movies that have been released thus far, including the animated Spider-Verse and live-action films, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is easily the most successful.

After all, the first MCU movie of 2026 cleared the rare $2.5 billion mark at the global box office to become the 3rd highest-grossing movie of all time. Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies have just kept growing in terms of their box office with each new release. After 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home put together Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield, there was no going up story-wise.

Intelligently, Spider-Man: Brand New Day did not attempt to one-up No Way Home in sheer size, but it expanded the scope of the MCU by introducing Sadie Sink as Jean Grey. The movie works as an emotional step in Peter Parker's journey, as well as the first step for the new X-Men. That said, Spider-Man: Brand New Day's time in the spotlight is coming to an end.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already become available on digital, and before the year is over, it should arrive on streaming. This will end its box office run, and that movement will lead into the release of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2. The Disney+ animated series will see the return of Marvel Studios' other Spider-Man, though two live-action ones could still appear before that.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 1 debuted on Disney+ on January 29, 2025. While the animated series is not canon to the MCU, the Disney+ TV show takes place in an MCU-adjacent universe, as events like the superhero Civil War have also taken place in the Marvel series. This makes Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's Peter Parker quite similar to Holland's version of Spider-Man, both in terms of his appearance, but also regarding Peter's bubbly personality. Season 1 saw Peter find his footing as Spider-Man and the growing pains of his dynamic with Norman Osborn, who replaces Iron Man as Peter's mentor here.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 will feature characters like Gwen Stacy, who will have powers like her Spider-Verse counterpart, and Eddie Brock, aka Marvel's most famous version of Venom. Season 2 is set to debut on Disney+ on January 13, 2027. As such, Marvel Studios' other main version of Spider-Man besides Holland will take over the spotlight from Spider-Man: Brand New Day in three months. This means that Brand New Day's era as the most recent Spider-Man release from Marvel is coming to an end soon, but there is a chance that another 2026 project will replace it before Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2.

While Marvel's Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 releases in January 2027, the MCU has a massive live-action movie set to be released before then. That project is Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives in theaters on December 18, and will feature several characters from the MCU and the wider Marvel universe. So far, it is confirmed that the latter will include multiple players from Fox's original X-Men franchise and Channing Tatum's Gambit from Deadpool & Wolverine, with those two title characters also heavily teased to return in the next Avengers movie.

There is a chance that Avengers: Doomsday will also bring back Holland's Peter Parker, as Spider-Man: Brand New Day's post-credits scene did tease a Spider-Man showing up somewhere in space, which could connect to the Doctor Doom movie. That said, the film could have been just as well teasing something for 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars. Still, there is a chance that even if that were the case, then Garfield and/or Maguire's versions of Spider-Man could show up instead in Avengers: Doomsday. For now, what is confirmed is that Spider-Man: Brand New Day's era ends in January, with Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 taking over.
