EXCLUSIVE: Ultimate Media Group, led by sales veteran Jason Buckley, has come on board to handle international rights — with WME Independent handling domestic sales — for the survival thriller In Tandem starring Emile Hirsch and Benjamin Norris.
As we first revealed, Hirsch makes his screenwriting debut on the film which is directed by Luc Walpoth. The film features cameo appearances by rock climbing icons Alex Honnold (Free Solo) and Brette Harrington (The Alpinist).
In Tandem “centers on a tumultuous bromance between two estranged high school friends played by Hirsch and Norris with zero real-world climbing experience who attempt to summit a mountain together. As old conflicts emerge mid-adventure, they must survive the wilderness and each other to make it down alive.”
Sales will launch at the upcoming AFM where the film will premiere for buyers.
The outdoor survival thriller is produced by Giovanni James Guidotti for Giovanni Entertainment and Dwjuan Fox for Decipher Entertainment. Mark Korshak and Jijo Reed are executive producers. Giovanni Entertainment fully financed the feature which was shot on location in the mountains of Oregon and Montana and recently wrapped post-production.
In Tandem is the second collaboration between UMG and Giovanni Entertainment, following the global sales launch for Ping starring Megan Lawless. Jason Buckley/UMG came on board and launched the film at the recent TIFF Market.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Giovanni Entertainment on In Tandem and to introduce the film to international buyers at AFM,” said Jason Buckley of Ultimate Media Group. “What sets In Tandem apart is its ability to deliver gripping, edge-of-your-seat suspense while exploring the complex relationship between its two leads. Set against the breathtaking landscape of the Pacific Northwest, the film combines high-stakes survival, unexpected twists, and genuine emotional depth. It’s the kind of character-driven thriller that delivers both intensity and entertainment, and we believe it has all the elements to resonate with audiences around the world.”
“In Tandem is in many ways Emile’s spiritual sequel to his critically acclaimed performance in Into the Wild,” stated producer Giovanni James Guidotti. “He is revisiting a story set against the backdrop of an extreme outdoor environment, this time to test the boundaries and interdependence of human relationships. We are excited to show distributors Emile’s next action-packed tale of adventure and friendship.”
Giovanni Entertainment’s current production slate also includes Ramin Bahrani’s romantic thriller Vegas: A Love Story starring Maika Monroe, Brandon Sklenar, Paul Dano and Michael Shannon; the drama That One Beautiful Day starring Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino, and Ping starring Megan Lawless, Fivel Stewart, Savanah Moss, Liv Morgan and Carter Jenkins.
