2026 has turned out to be the year for sci-fi, especially alien invasion stories. Fans love to be a part of a thrilling spectacle and the cathartic experience of watching humanity unite against an existential threat. This year, we have seen a handful of mind-blowing films, like Alan Ritchson’s brilliant action feature War Machine on Netflix and Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary which showcasing a heartfelt companionship between an alien and a human.

Among them is Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, which also marks the beloved director’s return to the genre after making blockbusters like E.T. the Extraterrestrial, War of the Worlds, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, among others. Written by David Koepp, the feature reads more like a conspiracy thriller than another alien-invasion story. It touches upon the themes of truth vs. power, with the narrative serving a sharp critique of government and corporate orthodoxy. The movie follows local television meteorologist Margaret Fairchild (Emily Blunt), whose life is upended after an encounter with a cardinal bird that suddenly makes her speak and understand a complex alien language. She teams up with Daniel (Josh O'Connor), a cybersecurity expert at Wardex, who is on the run after uncovering dirty secrets about his company. Together they race against time to expose the truth.

Along with Blunt and O’Connor, the feature benefits from compelling performances by Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo. The core theme of Disclosure Day remains human belief vs. faith as we watch a meditation on how world-shattering cosmic revelations affect human faith. It made $244.4 million worldwide on a $115 million budget. The 79% Rotten Tomatoes-rated film polarized audiences: some hailed it as timely, while others criticized it as bloated and rushed, with too many exposition dumps, but no one complained about the amazing action sequences.

Your answers point to the world your instincts were built for. This is the universe your temperament, your survival instincts, and your particular brand of stubbornness were made for.

You took the red pill a long time ago — probably before anyone offered it to you. You're a systems thinker who can't help but notice the seams in things.

The wasteland doesn't reward the clever or the well-connected — it rewards those who are hard to kill and harder to break. That's you.

You'd survive here because you know how to exist in moral grey areas without losing yourself completely.

Arrakis is the most hostile environment in the known universe — and you are precisely the kind of person it rewards.

The galaxy far, far away is vast, loud, and in a constant state of violent political upheaval — and you wouldn't have it any other way.

Ever since its PVOD and streaming debut, Disclosure Day has been a mainstay on various charts and has now spent months in top 10 lists. As the spooky season is upon us, more and more viewers are checking the film out as Disclosure Day is currently reigning on two streaming services, Apple TV and Prime Video, as per FlixPatrol. The movie is at the third spot on Prime Video and Apple TV’s global top 10 list.
