The Autobots' Leader Is More Concerned About Their Mission Than The People On Earth

There’s no doubt that Optimus Prime is one of the greatest leaders in any fictional genre, let alone Transformers as a whole. He’s the first one to run into battle, and he’ll sacrifice himself for anyone, even his enemies. Maybe his greatest attribute as a leader is how he motivates the Autobots. Other than maybe Superman and Steve Rogers, no one does it better. That didn’t change when he debuted in Image Comics/Skybounds Energon Universe.

Sometimes, Optimus’ altruism can be a bad thing. For example, in Transformers #30, he gave up the Matrix of Leadership to Elita Prime. He could have won the fight and continued to be the leader of the Autobots, but he allowed the Matrix to decide, and it picked her. This led to Elita Prime saying that anyone staying on Earth is no longer an Autobot. Now, she's showing who she truly is, but is this a good thing?

Elita has returned to Cybertron with her team and restarted the fight for Cybertron. So far, she’s been an amazing leader. She doesn’t have the inspiring speeches like her predecessor, but she arguably doesn’t need them with what she brings to the table instead. Elita Prime is leading by example, and her Autobots love her for it. One of them mentioned that she’s fought in every battle and never complained. Until she does, they can’t.

Throughout their many battles, Jazz has attempted to talk Elita into sending Energon back to Earth. He says that their help could be the difference between victory and defeat. Elita continues to refuse, even though it could lead to the Decepticons taking Earth. If that happens, Megatron (who, unbeknownst to them, will soon be Megatronus Rex) could drain the world and return to Cybertron stronger. Despite this truth, Elita still refuses.

The Energon Universe has assembled some of the most powerful Autobots in the Transformers franchise, making the comic-book versions cooler than ever.

During the final battle for the Well of Sparks, Elita Prime and the Autobots run into a trap, and Elita is injured. When this happened, her consciousness was taken into the Matrix of Leadership. While there, she sees Spike’s father, Sparky. After speaking to him, she realized the Matrix of Leadership chose her so she could see the truth. Earth needs the Autobots.

When she wakes up, the battle is over, and the Autobots have won. She tells Jazz to bring as much Energon to Earth as he and Jetfire can to help Optimus and his team. However, is it too late?

Elita Prime could get some criticism for not helping Optimus and the others on Earth, but she has a mission and tunnel vision. Neither is something she should be judged for. It isn’t the first time she’s been in charge, but this is different because she’s a Prime. That adds a level of responsibility that takes some time to get used to. Plus, it’s not as if she’s doing a bad job. She’s kept her people alive and continues to win battles. Sadly, her anger towards Optimus’ decisions could cost the Autobots everything.

No one knows what kind of monster Megatronus Rex will be when he starts to fight back. He looks like he has more weapons than any three Decepticons combined, and they’re probably more powerful too. If that’s the case, the Energon reserves may come too late to stop Megatronus from taking the fight back to his enemies and winning.

It's doubtful that he will take over Earth. Even if he does, this means that a major fight will take place in Transformers' Energon Universe crossover. If that happens, the Matrix of Leadership could go back to Optimus in order to turn the tide at the last minute. It's not as if anyone thought he would be without his Prime title forever.

Transformers is a multimedia franchise consisting of movies, TV Shows, video games, and comics. The franchise centers on a race of humanoid robots called the autobots who must protect Earth from the Decepticons. Some of the most popular characters include Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Bumblebee. In 2007, the first live-action movie in the franchise was released starring Shia Labeouf.
