Animations are one of the most popular and enjoyable ways to watch family-friendly content. There has not been any animation that has had such an impact on culture as Avatar: The Last Airbender, which was released in 2005. The adventures of Avatar Aang, his friends Katara, Sokka, Prince Zuko and Toph, despite coming to the fore over two decades ago, remain an entertaining watch. The success of the original series opened up a dam within that universe, and there has not been a shortage of content so far, especially in 2026.

This year alone, we have seen Netflix's live-action adaptation of the 2005 original series returning for a second season. Netflix launched the live-action series in 2024, with our beloved heroes being embodied by Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko. In Season 2, as their quest to confront and stop the Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim) progresses through the Earth Kingdom, Miyako joins the team to embody Toph Beifong, Aang's earth-bending master. Besides the Netflix show, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, the sequel movie to the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, which was originally scheduled to premiere in 2025, saw the film delayed, then its theatrical release scrapped, before the entire footage was leaked online. The animated feature opted for a brief theatrical release and a streaming exclusive on Paramount+, and the allure of Aang still paid off with impressive streaming numbers.

However, that is not all the Avatar business we are set to have in 2026. In July, at San Diego Comic-Con, Paramount officially revealed the first trailer for the next Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel series, Avatar: Seven Havens. Along with the trailer came the announcement that Avatar: Seven Havens would premiere on October 9. Today, we return to a universe that has brought us so much joy and entertainment over the years. Avatar: Seven Havens will tell its tale across two Books consisting of 13 half-hour episodes each. Book 1 (aka Season 1) will premiere its first three episodes on Paramount+ today, followed by three more episodes each Friday through October 30. Thankfully, Paramount has already greenlit a second season (Book 2), but a release date has not been set yet.

Your answers point to the iconic universe your values, your instincts, and your particular way of seeing the world were built for. This is where you would find your people — and your purpose.

You believe in the cause — in the idea that freedom is worth fighting for even when the odds are impossible and the empire is vast.

You understand, in the deepest part of yourself, that the journey matters as much as the destination — and that the world's beauty is worth protecting even at great cost.

You believe that love, loyalty, and doing what's right are not naive sentiments — they are the most powerful forces in any world, magical or otherwise.

You see the world clearly — its power structures, its hypocrisies, its brutal arithmetic — and you are not paralysed by that clarity. You use it.

You believe the future is worth building — that curiosity, cooperation, and the expansion of understanding are not just ideals but the most practical path forward for any civilisation.

Avatar: Seven Havens is written and created for TV by the original creators of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. Both serve as executive producers alongside Ethan Spaulding as well, with Sehaj Sethi coming on board as co-executive producer. Set in a world that no longer reveres the Avatar, the official logline for Avatar: Seven Havens states:

“Set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm, ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra, only to find that in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, Pavi and her long-lost twin Nisha must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”

When the show premieres tomorrow, the voice cast will include Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker as Geet and Ruhi.

Avatar: Seven Havens premieres on October 9, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
